A Christmas Story House Griswold Contest
Not sure if anyone heard about this but the A Christmas Story house is having a contest this month from November 1st to the 13th where people can email pictures or videos of their houses decorated like the Griswald house from the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. The winner will get a trip to the A Christmas Story house. More information below...
Show us your Clark Griswold approach to Christmas for a chance to win a trip to A Christmas Story House & Museum as the guest of honor and official illuminator of 25,000 twinkle lights on A Christmas Story House.
Starting November 1 through November 13, 2009, contestants can email photos or a YouTube video link of a home that they have decorated in true Griswold fashion to griswoldcontest@achristmasstoryhouse.com along with a description, in 200 words or less, of how they feel they reflect the spirit of Clark Griswold at Christmas.
One lucky winner will win the opportunity to come to A Christmas Story House & Museum in Cleveland, Ohio to officially plug-in the lights on Saturday, November 21, 2009. The lights will be installed by Holiday Lights of Cleveland and will remain on the house throughout the Christmas season.
The prize for the winner and a guest includes:
- Up to $1000 in travel expenses.
- 2-night Renaissance Cleveland Hotel Christmas Story Package stay.
- An exclusive, guided tour of the Museum by the owner, Brian Jones.
- Chinese Turkey dinner at the Pearl of the Orient.
- Tickets to “Holly”wood Christmas Movieland.
- A set of Moose Mugs.
- A “Major Award” Leg Lamp.
- $200 shopping spree in the gift shop.
Photos will be displayed on our website so that people can see the Clark Griswold-inspired decorating that goes on around the country! The winner will be announced the week of November 16, 2009.
We promise we won’t staple the winner’s shirt to the house, or ask them to check every bulb!
Contest Rules:
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: Contest begins November 1, 2009 and ends November 13, 2009 at 12am (EST). Open to legal residents of the continental US who are 21 years of age or older. To enter either: (1) email a photo of you or someone you love who celebrates Christmas in Clark Griswold style through their house decorating or other holiday celebrations or (2) email a link to a YouTube video of a house decorated in Clark Griswold fashion. Email address is: griswoldcontest@achristmasstoryhouse.com. Include a 200-word or less essay on why you or your nominee should win. You may nominate yourself or someone else, but the winner to accept the prize will be the person who actually reflects the Clark Griswold spirit of the holidays. Include: name, address, date of birth and telephone number along with essay.
By submitting an entry, you are granting permission for A Christmas Story House & Museum staff and management to use the images on social networking sites such as Facebook as well as on www.AChristmasStoryHouse.com. Submitter’s full name and information will not be disclosed in pre-publicity efforts.
Winner will be selected by Brian Jones, owner of A Christmas Story House & Museum.
PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize of a trip for 2 to A Christmas Story House and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Trip includes the opportunity to ceremoniously plug-in 25,000 twinkle lights on the house used in filming “A Christmas Story.” Along with prize are: Up to $1,000 toward airfare or gas/mileage expenses, with receipts, a 2 night stay at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel; an exclusive, guided tour of the Museum by owner Brian Jones, including a close-up look at the items in the “Ralphie and Randy” collection; and dinner at the Pearl of the Orient while in town. The winner also will receive a “major award” leg lamp, a set of moose mugs, and a $200 shopping spree in the gift shop.
Winner and travel companion must sign/return, within 7 days of notification, an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release or an alternate winner may be selected. Winner and companion must be able to be in Cleveland for the house lighting on Saturday, November 21, 2009 or an alternate winner may be selected. The prize cannot be redeemed for cash value.
