When I was a kid back in the 1950's I remember it was Christmas eve and trying to get to sleep was almost impossible to say the least! Well as the night wore on I finely did just that when suddenl, I opened my tired eyes to see someone by the tree which I could see from my room I couldn't quite make out who it was but the clothing they wore was in shades of red. What a feeling I got scared and excited all at the same time. I didn't say a word and closed my eyes only to fall to sleep.. I don't remember telling anyone about it. Only years later did I was told it was my father by the tree that night being Santa's helper!.. A great memorie!
I posted this on the other Christmas site but I figured I might as well post it here too.
For the first few years after moving to PA we had a tradition of going to a local restaurant (Mt. Haven) to have a Christmas Eve dinner. Well there was this one year that sticks out in my mind because we decided to leave a little early so we could take a walk in Milford to look at the Christmas lights. Now for anyone who hasn't seen Milford at Christmas time I have to tell you how magical it is. Every year they put white Christmas lights on all of the trees, and on a mountain that shadows the city somebody puts up a huge Christmas star that can been seen for "as far as the eye can see" With it's buildings from the 1800's it reminds me of one of those towns you'd see in some old Christmas movie. This year though was really special because on our way there we started seeing flurries, and by the time we got to Milford it started to snow pretty heavily. It's funny because even though it was only about 6pm I guess everyone was at home because the streets were extremely quiet, so much as you could literally hear the snow falling. Well we finally did get to the restaurant, had a great dinner, and went out to the car to drive home to find about an inch of snow on the ground. It was really coming down now! After the slow drive home we went inside to make some hot chocolate, and then went back outside for a snowball fight...LOL It was a really great Christmas Eve!
I think we have a video of us playing out in the snow that Christmas Eve. One of these days I'll have to dig through our videos to see if I can find it and post it here.
